EdUHK’s “Walking Together” initiative partners with Tai Po seniors to share first-year health research findings and introduce a new AI-powered hearing screening app.

Over the past year, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK)’s EdUHK SDG Living Lab @ Tai Po – Community Well-being project has supported more than 1,400 elderly residents through health assessments, follow-up reviews, and referrals focusing on cognitive, physical, and psychological well-being. Approximately 300 participants completed one-year tracking.

On 7 February, EdUHK hosted the sharing session “Walking Together: Creating a Harmonious and Healthy Future” to present first-year findings and update the community on service progress. Preliminary results showed stable cognitive performance among over 90% of tracked participants, improved well-being linked to community engagement, and higher-than-average anxiety and stress levels among some elderly residents, highlighting the need for targeted mental health support.

The University also announced the introduction of hearing screening services and an AI Smart Diet Analysis application to enhance early detection, dietary safety, and overall elderly care.

The project reflects EdUHK’s commitment to translating research into community impact through cross-sector collaboration with government, social service organisations, and local partners, aiming to promote healthy ageing and sustainable community well-being in Tai Po.
